About the Course
Long before I understood sound as medicine, I watched what music could do. A piece of music can reach someone who is tired differently from someone who is grieving. It can stir us, settle us, change our breathing, and sometimes help us find a part of ourselves that has become quiet. Chinese Medicine carries this understanding further. Sound is not merely heard by the ears. It travels upon the breath and is received by the body. Each of the Six Healing Sounds has a particular relationship to an Organ system, but producing the sound alone does not complete the practice. Breath, sound, hand placement, and timing must be brought into alignment. During this two-hour live course, I will teach you how to form each of the Six Healing Sounds, where to place your hands, how the breath carries the sound, and when to practice it. You will not simply repeat six sounds. You will begin learning how to recognize what each sound is doing within you. The medicine in this course is not something you take. It is something you learn to produce within your own body.
Forming the Sound
Dr. Kamal will demonstrate each of the Six Healing Sounds so you can hear the tone, observe how it is formed, and practice it with him.
Bring the Practice Into Alignment
Learn how the breath, hand placement, and sound work together so the practice becomes more than repeating a syllable.
Practice and Observe
Understand where each sound belongs within the Chinese Medicine clock, then begin working sounds at their proper hours.
Kamal Polite, DCEM DOM AP CHE
Dr. Kamal Polite is a Chinese Medicine physician, educator, and author with nearly three decades of clinical experience. His relationship with sound began even earlier, through the musical and martial inheritances of his family. What first appeared to be separate disciplines eventually revealed the same lesson: the note, the breath, and the body must be understood in relationship to the whole. He has worked with sound as part of his own cultivation and clinical practice for decades. His method of teaching reflects his method as a physician. The principle must be understood, the practice must be experienced, and the student must learn to recognize what it produces. In this live course, Dr. Kamal brings together Chinese Medicine, Qigong, martial discipline, and a lifetime of listening to guide you through the Six Healing Sounds.
